Obituary

John Thomas "J.T." Smith, Jr. of Sheridan, Arkansas was born April 28, 1925 near Sheridan, the son of the late John Thomas Smith, Sr. and Nettie Dupriest Smith. He was a member of New Life Fellowship Church in Sheridan, was a Veteran of both the United States Navy and Army. He had worked for Fox Mill in Sheridan for years and later retired from International Paper Company as a truck driver. J.T. was best known around Grant County as the "Tator Man". He grew and sold his sweet potatoes all over the community. Mr. Smith enjoyed fishing and hunting and gardening. His greatest joy was his wife and daughters and their families.

Mr. Smith died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at McClellan V.A. Hospital in Little Rock at the age of 88.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Annie J. Garrison Smith of Sheridan; daughters, Annette Benton of Sheridan, Donna Carol Pilkington of Sheridan, Diane Givens of Malvern; 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan. Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, 6:00-8:00 P.M.
