Katherine "Katy" Jane Sprankle Whitmire of Sheridan, Arkansas was born April 3, 1935 in Weokah, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Walter A. and Blanche Hatchell Sprankle. She was a member of Marlow Missionary Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.

Ms  Whitmire died on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at her home at the age of 89.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carielee Whitmire; brother, Thomas R. Sprankle; sister, Walda "Pinkie" Harrington, sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Bill Wade; grandson, Dawson Whitmire.

Survivors: sons, Walter L. Whitmire (Aleda) of Sheridan, William T. Whitmire (Kim) of Sheridan, Waylan Whitmire of Sheridan; daughter, Carla J. Childers of Sheridan; brother-in-law, Larry Harrington of Sheridan: 11 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Marlow Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be 10:00 until service time also at the church. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in the Ico Community.

Pallbearers are Chris Whitmire, Cole Childers, Jerry Harrington, Paul Harrington, Jerry Mullins, Ross Harrington, Jason Roberts and Zack Fuller.
