Kay Fiser Gillis of Sheridan, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at
home surrounded by her family. She was born November 1,1946 in Little Rock, Arkansas
to the late O.E. and Louise Barker Fiser. She was a graduate of
Malvern High School and received her bachelor's degree from Henderson
State University in 1967 and a master's degree from the University of
Arkansas at Little Rock. After graduation from Henderson, she spent 37
years teaching business classes at Sheridan High School.
Kay was an active member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in
Sheridan and worked for several years in the Awana program. She was a
member of Chapter Y P.E.O. International Sisterhood, Grant County
Retired Teachers Association, Arkansas Retired Teachers
Association, and was a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Kay was predeceased by her parents, O.E. and Louise Fiser and a brother, Ronnie Fiser.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Gillis of the home, son, Bryan and
his wife Kelly, of Redfield, Arkansas, and daughter, Audra Gillis of
the home. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Riley and Harper
Gillis. Other survivors are two brothers, Bill and wife Marilyn Fiser of
Sheridan and Gary and wife Debbie Fiser of Signal Mountain, Tennessee,
brother-in-law Ronnie Gillis and his wife Jane of Sheridan, three aunts,
Birta Fiser of Sheridan, Sally Fiser of Fort Smith, and Wanda Gibson
of Little Rock. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a
host of friends that will cherish her memory.
Memorials may be made to the Children's Ministry of First Landmark
Missionary Baptist Church, 402 West Center, Sheridan, Arkansas 72150.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 25, 2010 at First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan with burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Reverend Stacy Lisenbey, and Reverend Shawn Hill officiating. Visitation: 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ron Gillis, Ky Fiser, Shane Fiser, Ryan Fiser,
Darrell Kelly, Scott Hines, Oliver Humphreys, Randy Mooney, Larry Hedden and Tom Allen.
