Obituary

Kim Elder Easterly, 53, of Sheridan left his earthly life on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Saline Memorial Hospice in Bryant after a short battle with cancer. He was born on August 18, 1957 to Carrol D. Easterly and Lois Elder Easterly.

He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1975. He was a licensed boiler operator, most recently employed by UAMS until his illness in July, and a member of Little Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan.

Kim was known by his quick and big smile that seemed to be his trademark. His family has heard many stories over the past few weeks of his faithful friendship and willingness to help anyone that he could. He loved to hunt and fish and spending that time with friends was his passion. He recently made the statement that the past year and a half has been the happiest of his life for which his family is thankful. Uncle Kim was as proud of his nieces and nephews and their accomplishments as if they were his own.

He was preceded in death by his dad, twin brother Jimmy Easterly and brother Toney Easterly, and his grandparents, William D. and Coy Harper Easterly and William B. and Ruby Caldwell Elder.

Survivors include his mother, Lois Easterly Plunkett (Rommey), brother Wayne Easterly (Debbie) of Pine Bluff and sister Judi Easterly Castleberry (Donnie) of Camden. Nieces, Stephanie Easterly of Pine Bluff, Stacy Easterly of Houston and Bethany Castleberry Rutledge (Adam) of Fayetteville. Nephews, Josh Easterly of Sheridan, Caleb Castleberry (Jenna) of Sheridan and Daniel Castleberry of Camden. Kim was also survived by a great nephew, Porter Rutledge of Fayetteville, a special step daughter, Julie Pacheco and her children Briar and Annalyn of Malvern and many other friends and family that were special in Kim's life.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan with Reverend Shawn Hill officiating. Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery, by Ralph Robinson and Son. The family will receive friends at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Friday, 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
