Ruth LaDonne Young Brewster, 80, of Sheridan was born July 10, 1945, at Davis Hospital in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Norman and Dorothy Pitts Young. She died peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025, surrounded by family. She left this earth for her eternal home as her husband prayed.
On May 31, 1963, she married the love of her life, Johnie Vernon Brewster, at Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff by Dr. John P. Saunders. Unto this marriage two daughters were born, Jamie LaDonne and Jennifer LeAnne.
She was a member of Hopedale Missionary Baptist Church in Winchester, Arkansas.
She accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age at First Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill, Arkansas, where she was baptized by Bro. Buddy Taylor.
She was a homemaker for many years where she happily spoiled her grandkids. She worked for several years at Simmons Bank in Pine Bluff before serving as deputy clerk of Grant County, Arkansas, where she retired. She loved going to bluegrass festivals. She could make a tune on any instrument, but her instrument of choice was the bass.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, LeAnne Collins; her son-in-law, Paul Jacobs; her sister, Diane Miller; and her brother, David (Bubba) Young.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Johnie Brewster; her daughter Jamie (Mitch) Eggburn; grandchildren Haley (Evan) Patrick of Monticello, Will (Shyann) Jacobs of Horatio, Christopher Williams of Lake Stevens, Washington, and Sarah Grace (Michael) Walters of Marysville, Washington; bonus grandchildren Eric (Mary), Joseph (Ashley) and Anna Eggburn; great-grandchildren Hattie, Abigail, and Ivy Ruth Patrick, Jon Paul, Levi, Kayce, and Lynlee Jacobs, bonus great-grandson Wesley Eggburn; her sister, Becky Lunsford; special sister-in-law, Margie Drewry; her best friend, MaryAnn Graves; and numerous extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 31st at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held immediately after visitation.
The family will be at Mitch and Jamie's home located at 11001 Highway 270 East in Sheridan.
