LeaEtta Seymour Sweatt of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away August 26, 2015.
She was born October 5, 1923 to John William Seymour and Bertha Latimer Seymour in Center Point, Arkansas.
She met the "love of her life", Joe Howard Sweatt, as a freshman at Henderson State University in the fall of 1941. After a fun courtship that lasted through his service with the Third Infantry Division overseas for 36 months, many steamy letters, and her exciting sorority life, (including President of Alpha Sigma Alpha), he returned home and they were married in 1946. This happy and loving union lasted 60 years before his death in 2006. They both worked as schoolteachers with LeaEtta retiring after 35 years in service to children. LeaEtta enjoyed life and especially thrived in helping children. She loved people and was a kind and generous person with many lifelong friendships. These last few years she spent her days in enjoyment at the Caring Place of Hot Springs with new friends and a new hobby, painting.
They were blessed with and are survived by three children, John Albert and wife Deby Su, Jimmy Stewart and Melinda McCarter; four grandchildren, Joey Rand and fiancé Haley, Sarah Sweatt Orsborn (Jonathan), Jessica Sweatt McCann (Tyler) and Cheyanne Rachel Sweatt; two great grandchildren, (the sparkle of LeaEtta's eye for the past 3 years), EttaJane and Claire Elaine Orsborn and one brother Roy Seymour of Longview, Texas and his family.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Sheridan with Bro. John Embrey officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 357, Sheridan, Arkansas 72150.
