Boyd Lee Varnell, Jr. of Star City, Arkansas was born July 19, 1966 in Dumas, Arkansas, the son of Linda Faye Johnson Smith and the late Boyd Lee Varnell, Sr. He was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Star City. He enjoyed archery, making knives, and playing his guitar. He was an avid outdoorsman, having been an active member of Sanders Creek Hunting Club.

Lee died Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff at the age of 52.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Burris Varnell, and a brother, Jon Lance Varnell.

Survivors: daughters, Macey Varnell and Olivia Varnell both of North Little Rock; mother and step-father, Linda and Loyd (Pete) Smith of Pine Bluff; brother, Cannon Varnell of Ft. Smith; sister, Katrina Varnell of North Little Rock; step-sisters, Dee (Mike) Holcomb of Pine Bluff, Carol (Mike) Waddell of Prairie City, Iowa; mother-in-law, Mary Sue Burris of Harrison and a host of extended family members, church family, deer camp family and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Star City with Bro. John Marlar and Bro. Doug Burris officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 until service time, also at the church.
