Marie Owen Ashley of Redfield, Arkansas was born September 13, 1928 at Redfield, the daughter of the late Joseph and Charity Croy Owen. She was a very active member of Orion Missionary Baptist Church for many years. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of the church. Over the years she served in any way she was needed, including song leader, treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and the list goes on and on. She cherished her family, and was proud of each of them.
Mrs. Ashley died Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Hospice Homecare in Little Rock, at the age of 91. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jean Ray Ashley, a daughter, Sharon Rice; brothers, Albert Owen , Bobby Joe Owen; sisters, Juanita Andrews , Louise Owen.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Libby Ashley of Redfield; daughters, Gail and husband Ron Lewis of Redfield, Beverly Cloninger of Beebe; sisters, Annie Taylor of Redfield, Myrtle Porter of Hensley; grandchildren, Marcus Brown, James Brown, Andy Ashley, Adam Ashley, Stephanie Ware, Tosha Rook, Matt Cloninger, Melissa Bradley; great grandchildren, Brooke Ashley, Avana Ashley, AZ Ashley, Slayton Ashley, Harleigh Ware, Ashleigh Ware, Brady Rook, Millie Louise Rook, Anna Marie Rice Brown, Brayden Cloninger, Michael Beman, Jacob Beman, Mya Bradley, Carter Bradley, Reese Bradley. She is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Orion Missionary Baptist Church near Redfield, with Bro. Jimmy Easley and her grandson, Andy Ashley officiating. Burial will follow at Orion Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.

Marie's favorite verse that she quoted so often was Romans 8:28 " And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose"
