Marshel Edward George of Sheridan was born on February 11, 1938, the son of the late R.E. and Dorothy Lewis George. He died at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on February 28, 2009 at the age of 71 years.

He was a retired Pulp Mill Supervisor having worked for International Paper Company for 37 years, was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and a member of Sheridan Golf Club. He was preceded in death by his son, Bill George.

Survivors: Wife, Jo Ann Sweeney George of the home;
Three sons, Rickey and Gary George and Bobby Effinger;
Two daughters, Shirley Cox and Julie Bell;
Two brothers, Havis and wife Linda George; and Stanley and wife Ann George;
Sister, Barbara and husband Buddy Gibbs;
Seven Grandchildren

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Danny Hill officiating. Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery at Sheridan. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday. Memorials may be made to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, c/o Diane McElroy, #8 Toler Street, Sheridan, AR. 72150.

Pallbearers will be Paul Griffith; Robert Griffith; Robert Shepherd; Johnny Shepherd; D.L. Roberts and Keith Williams. Honorary Pallbearers are Roy Webb and Arlis East.
