IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marty Dean
Kent
January 23, 1966 – June 7, 2020
Marty Dean Kent of Sheridan, Arkansas passed away on June 7, 2020 in Bay Minette, Alabama while vacationing at the beautiful beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Marty was born on January 23, 1966 in Brewton, Alabama to the late Charles Levon Kent of Opp, Alabama and Mary Elizabeth Bradley Kent Harrison of East Brewton, Alabama.
He is a 1984 graduate of W. S. Neal High School in East Brewton, Alabama.
He was also a member of the I. U. P. A. T. Union for over thirty years as an industrial sandblaster and painter. His favorite work was commercial painting, especially the work he did at the Arkansas State Capitol restoring it to its original beauty.
Marty is survived by his wife and best friend, Connie James; daughter and son-in-law, Shari and Nick Pruitt; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Matthew Fleming; son, Cody Kent; grandchildren: Emma, Audrey, and Cooper Pruitt; Samuel, Josiah, Eliana, and Mia Fleming; mother, Mary Elizabeth Bradley Kent Harrison; brother and sister-in-law, Gary Kent and Howie Hill; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; countless friends, including his closest friend, Jack Brannan; and his loyal beagle, Snoop.
When he was not working, Marty enjoyed spending his time fishing with his son, Cody and hunting with his brother, Gary, which he pursued with a passion.
Marty's family was his pride and joy. He was especially proud of his three children and loved spending time with his seven grandchildren. When they were all together, he usually insisted on cooking them a delicious meal, even during their last days together.
Marty was known for his kind and gentle spirit, his easy-going nature, and his love for his family and friends. He is missed greatly by all who had the privilege of knowing him and sharing life with him. After losing his three and a half year battle with cancer, there is great comfort in knowing he is whole and free of sickness and pain while in the presence of Jesus.
A celebration of Marty's life will be held at the home of Jack Brannan in Prague, Arkansas on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 6 PM. A second memorial will be held in Gulf Shores, Alabama at a later date.
