Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Ratterree Keesee of Prattsville, Arkansas was born March 28, 1939 at Monticello, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Mody Ratterree, Sr. and Eunice Phillips Ratterree.

She was a faithful member of Harmony Baptist Church in Prattsville.  A graduate of Monticello High School, she went on to complete her nursing degree at St. Vincent Nursing School in Little Rock.  She then spent 32 years blessing lives at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

If a simple smile could be translated into words, Mary's would say, "Come on in, sit down and visit, and what can I get you?".  She was as real and genuine a person, as you would ever have the pleasure to meet.  Her love for people paired well with her servant's heart, and she not only served God in the Church, she realized that outside those walls, she was the Church, and she did everything she could to help anyone she could.  Never for personal recognition, she gave all glory to her God.  She's been described as the most caring, compassionate and devoted wife, mom, aunt, and friend anyone could have.  She was the best farmers wife and cowhand that James could ever ask for.  She will be remembered for her involvement in church events, whether to be welcoming new members or preparing meals…..and her sweet tea was legendary!  Mary was always up for a short trip anywhere, and her daughter was quick to make that happen.

Mary went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, May 30, 2025 at her home in Prattsville, at the age of 86.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mody Ratterree, Jr.,and her sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Gene Sligh.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James Warren Keesee of Prattsville;  their children, Jan Keesee Avant of Sherwood, Arkansas and Steven (Tamara) Keesee of Foley, Alabama; grandson, Brent (Ashley) Keesee of Sheridan; great grandchildren, Jocelyn Autrey, Natalie Keesee, Levi Keesee.  She is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, her Harmony Church Family and untold numbers of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Harmony Baptist Church in Prattsville, with Bro. Dennis Blackerby, Bro. Pat Greer and Bro. Shiloh Gober officiating.  Burial will be in Philadelphia Cemetery.  Visitation is Monday, 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church Widows Ministry or Philadelphia Cemetery Association.

We know Heaven's a whole lot sweeter today as Jesus and Mary are sippin' some of her sweet tea.
