Obituary

Mary Lyn Reaves Davis of Sheridan, Arkansas was born August 16, 1933 in Sheridan, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Thomas Glyn and Mary Wilson Reaves.

She was a charter member of First Landmark Baptist Church in Sheridan and was a retired Special Education teacher for the Sheridan School District where she had taught on every campus. She began and personally originated the community based instruction program and wrote the curriculum for the Special Education for the Sheridan School District. She had previously served as teacher and principal at Arkansas School for the Deaf.

She was a 1951 graduate of Sheridan High School, a lifelong Razorback Foundation supporter, and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She had a deep passion for reading, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She could always be found at her grandsons sporting events and was known to go to their classes at school, read to the children and take treats.

Ms. Davis died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at her home at the age of 84.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Glyn Reaves and the father of her children, Joe Davis, Sr.

Survivors: son, Joe Davis II of Sheridan; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Harrington of Sheridan; grandchildren, Thomas (Brittney) Harrington of Sheridan, Shane (Kayla) Harrington of Benton; great grandchildren, Ian Harrington and Sleyter Harrington; sister-in-law, Betty Reaves; niece, Kim (Ted) Cameron; nephew, Mike Neighbors; special friends, Christine Criswell, Larry Huddleston, Sandra Crouse Cannon, Kathleen Dean and her children, Richard McClellan, Lindsey McClellan and Elaine Roberson and a host of extended family members and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Shane Harrington, Bro. DeHaan Thornton, Bro. Tyler Campbell and Bro. Shawn Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 4-6 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grant County Library, 210 North Oak, Sheridan, AR 72150; First Landmark MBC Youth, 402 West Center, Sheridan, AR 72150 or Cross Roads MBC Youth, 10019 Lily Drive, Benton, AR 72015.

Pallbearers are Darrell Barnes, Jerry Davis, Joe Davis II, Joe Lynn Harrison, Shane and Sleyter Harrington, Thomas and Ian Harrington, Larry Huddleston, Kris Rutherford, and Zachary Woodall.

Honorary pallbearers are her classmates and friends, Leo Crouse, Arnold Williams, Waylon Moren, Hosea Shepherd, Joe Donald Pumphrey, Jonathan Smith, Macon Belt, Sidney Gates, J. R. Mote, John L. Crouse, Jack Winston, Raymond Davis, Larry Tripp, Donald Davenport, Don Taylor, Bill Lowry, and Thomas Starks.
