Mary Gwendolyn Nelson Reid, 89, of Sheridan, Arkansas died October 11, 2009. She was born in Sheridan on November 13, 1919, the daughter of the late Robert and Hattie Kelley Nelson.
Life-long residents of Sheridan, Mrs. Reid and her husband the late Van Reid were owners and operators of the Western Auto Store in Sheridan for many years. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Sheridan.
Mary was an avid outdoors-woman, whether it was fishing or killing the biggest deer alongside her husband. She loved to work in her yard and nurture her flowers and gardens. Her passion through most of her life was being with her son, Vanness, taking him on his bike trips and enjoying every trip he went on.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Van Reid and two sisters, Kathryn Williams and Ethel Mae Schooley and a brother, Ralph Nelson.

Nephews, Dr. Ronnie Williams of Little Rock; Dr. Graham Reid of Little Rock; Dr. Bob Fitzhugh of Stamps; Robert Graves of Mt. Airy, Maryland; Chris Graves and Martin Graves both of Russellville; and a host of great nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at First United Methodist Church in Sheridan with Bro. John Fleming officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation: 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
