On Dec. 31st, Mattie E. Barnett, 93, of Little Rock, left
this world to take her place in the house of Our Lord. Born in
Prattsville, AR, she was the youngest daughter of John and Maude
Morton. After the family moved to Little Rock, Mattie graduated from
Central High before marrying her childhood sweetheart, Clifton
Barnett, who was also born and raised in Prattsville. They moved to
Los Angeles, CA, where they lived for over 40 years while raising
their family. In retirement, Mattie and Clifton, happily returned to
Little Rock, where they lived out their lives.
Mattie was blessed by God with a loving family and friendships
that lasted for a lifetime. After suffering a
recent stroke, life had brought challeges but Mattie never lost her
engaging sense of humor or her hearty laugh.
Mattie's belief in Christ never wavered, and her prayers gave
peace to all those around her. It was Mattie's faith that brought her
comfort knowing she would see those many loved ones who had gone
before, again in Heaven. She was preceded in death by her husband of
48 yrs, Clifton Barnett, and her daughter, Judy Tinch. She is
survived by her son, Gregory Barnett, of CA, three grandchildren,
Janet Peets, and Timothy Barnett, both of CA, and Magic Barnett, of
NV, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Her life's journey will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. on Jan.6, 2010 at
Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan with Bro. Michael Walton officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville.
