Maurice Edwin Herrington, 86, of Griffith Springs, AR passed away at the home of his daughter, Tuesday, May 8, 2018.
He was born in Waldo, AR October 2, 1931 and raised in Cedar Branch and Sulphur Springs are. He graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1947. He was a member of the United States Air Force and was stationed at Kimpo Air Force Base during the Korean War. After his discharge from the service Mr. Herrington went to work for Georgia Pacific in Pine Bluff, where he worked for 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hubbert and Cecile (Harris) Herrington, natives of Sheridan, a brother, Hubbert "Buddy" Herrington, and a sister, Ethelyn (Herrington) Stevenson. He leaves behind a large family, his wife, Madie (Lisenbey) Herrington of Griffith Springs and 5 daughters and son in laws, Carolyn and Larry Loredo of Griffith Springs, Renee and Dennis Newman of Farmington, Maureen and Andy Hanson of Sheridan, Karen and David Lemons of Malvern, Katrina Meek and Kevin Harper of Griffith Springs; 19 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren plus a few special people whom he loved as if they were his own, Scotty, Mark and Jason Warren, Jim Reeves and his beloved dog Chomper, aka "Stumpy".
Maurice loved hunting, fishing, camping and gardening & just about anything that involved the outdoors but his favorite pass time was spending time with his family and friends. He was a kind, loving and caring daddy and papaw.
Visitation will be at Memorial Gardens in Sheridan, AR Thursday May 10, 2018 from 5-7pm. Maurice was mostly confined to the house the last few years, so to honor his love of the outdoors a graveside service will be held at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville, AR Friday May 11th at 11:00.
