Michael K. Burson

Michael K. Burson was born December 15, 1944 in El Dorado, Arkansas, the son of the late E.C. (Pete) and Mary Baker Burson. Growing up in his hometown of Strong, AR, Mike was a proud graduate of Strong High School, Class of 1962 and Arkansas A&M (now UAM). After obtaining his business degree, Mike went to work at the Employment Security Division in Little Rock where he spent his entire professional career.

Mike died February 23, 2026 at St. Vincent’s’ Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 81.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karla R. Burson, and a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest Elliott (Ann) Burson.

Survivors: daughters, Kim Robinson of White Hall, Kristin Burson Taylor of Little Rock; brother, Jerry (Sarah) Burson of Strong: sister, Dianne (Robert) Ballard of Crossett; 6 grandchildren, Micah Robinson, Noah Robinson, Macie Taylor, Ryan Shelby, Tyler Robinson, Loren Robinson; 8 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mike loved his family, especially his grands and great grands, friends, dachshunds, flowers, plants, genealogy and historical research.

He was passionate about preserving the past and passing it on to the future generations. He researched, wrote and published 15 books, filled with facts and historical fiction based on actual events.

He was very involved with social media, bringing together old and new friends and communities.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan.

Funeral service will be at Union Methodist Protestant Church, 118 Sweet Home Road, Strong, AR 71765 (Burson Family Church where Mike grew up) on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 2:00 PM with Bro. Robert Ballard officiating. Visitation also at the church from 1:00 until service time. Burial will follow at Strong Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Stacey Burson, Mitch Burson, Rob Ballard, Jon Ballard, Noah Robinson and Micah Robinson. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Shelby, Taylor Burson, and Tory Burson.
