James Michael Pumphrey of Prattsville, Arkansas was born June 14, 1946 in Prattsville, the son of the late Roy Lee and Annibeth Harper Pumphrey. He was a lifelong member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. He had retired from Entergy and also JMP'S Excavating where he was the owner working with his sons.

Mike died at his home on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at the age of 76.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Lynn Pumphrey, son, Scott Pumphrey and the mother of his children, Peggy Pumphrey.

Survivors: wife, Judy Hughes Pumphrey; children, Michelle Pumphrey, Mark (Allie) Pumphrey, Denise (Brent) Holiman; brother, Rex (Jeanie) Pumphrey; sister-in-law, Barbara Pumphrey, all of Prattsville; grandchildren, Michael Hollinger, Roo Pumphrey and Briar Pumphrey and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 22, 2022 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Bro. Pat Greer and Bro. Shawn Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 until service time.

Pallbearers are Gary Shoptaw, Harold Holiman, Donny Pumphrey, Darren Henderson, Danny Reynolds, Butch Paxton, Scott Dutton and Josh holt. Honorary pallbearers are Ed Skelton, Gene Sligh, Poodle Benning, Freddy Harrington, Jerry Davis and Troy Gregory who preceded him in death.

Memorials may be made to Harmony Missionary Baptist Church or Philadelphia Cemetery.
