Mildred "Bill" Ashley Whitaker of Sheridan, Arkansas was born August 2, 1920 at Belfast, the daughter of the late Drew Edward and Versie Jane Appling Ashley. She was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and had retired as an investigator for the Employment Security Division.

Ms. Whitaker died Friday, December 19, 2008 at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab Center at the age of 88.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Emmett J. Whitaker and a son Gary Whitaker.

Sisters, Trula McGarity of Sheridan;
Dorothy Gregory of Sheridan;
Delphia Culpepper of Hot Springs;
Joyce and husband Clyde Sites of Sheridan;
Betty and husband Carl Horton of Sheridan;
Shirley and husband Ed James of Dublin, Georgia;
and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 22, 2008 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan with Scott Culpepper and Bro. Terry Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation: 4-6 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.
