Mollie Lee Tolbert Morris, 95 of Sheridan, Arkansas died at 2:15 AM on Monday, November 1, 2004 at Sheridan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, her home since 1995.
She was born on April 17, 1909 in the Providence Community of Grant County, the seventh of eight children born to Elijah and Sarah Jackson Tolbert, all of whom preceded her in death.
She married Fred Morris on February 5, 1928 and they were married 54 years until his death on May 18, 1982. The couple had two daughters and one son, all of whom died as newborn infants. They raised or helped to raise certain nieces and nephews, three of whom lived in their home for substantial periods of time. Mrs. Morris is survived by her "foster" children: Russell Tolbert of Troys, Michigan and Cheri Shellnut Gregg of Sheridan. Surviving nieces and nephews are Charles Shellnut of Little Rock, Thelma Lee Brown, Isaac Mayhugh, L. D. Shellnut, Walter Morris, Jimmie Shellnut all of Sheridan. She is also survived by other nieces, nephews, and cousins, their families and fellow church members and friends.
Mrs. Morris was a life long Baptist, active in church activities as long as she was able. Along with her husband, she was one of 26 charter members of Immanuel Baptist Church of Sheridan, which recently celebrated its 48th anniversary. At the time of her death, she was the oldest of five living charter members who remained members of Immanuel.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, November 4,2004 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Jackson Cemetery near Sheridan.
