Montez Childers Allen of Sheridan, Arkansas was born April 2, 1921 in Kingsland, Arkansas the daughter of the late George Samuel and Annie Carl McGriff Childers. She was a member of First Landmark Baptist Church, a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution-Chicot Trace Chapter, Sheridan Chapter OES-Chapter 212 where she had already received her 50 year pin. She was a member of the Sheridan Ladies Golf Association and had been treasurer of New Hope Cemetery Association for 25 years.

Mrs. Allen died Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 85.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Vennie, Calvin and Virgil Childers.

Survivors: Husband, William Walter Allen of Sheridan;
Son, William Gayle Allen of Sheridan;
Sister, Helen Kauffman of Sheridan;
Grandchildren; Bridget Michele Allen, William Gray Allen and William Walker Allen and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. John Mooney and Bro. William Ashcraft officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Terry Martin, Butch Campbell, David McVay, Eddie Suttle, Clyde Jackson, Roy Baxley, Randy Mooney and Doug Hollinger.
