Morris Durell Smith of Mabelvale, Arkansas was born February 28, 1929 in Sturgis, Mississippi, the son of the late Maurice Wesley and Anna Lou Kinard Smith. He was a member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in Hensley and S&H Deer Camp. He had served in the US Army having fought in the Korean War.

Mr. Smith was a master carpenter who would help anyone to build any project they had at any given moment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and splitting wood. He was an awesome story teller and he loved to play with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially feed them ice cream.

Mr. Smith died Sunday, January 13, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospice at the age of 89.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Maurceen Smith, second wife, Thelma Smith; son, Andy Smith, brothers, Wesley Smith and Cornell Smith.

Survivors; sons, Myron and wife Pam Smith of Sheridan, Mark and Michelle Smith of Hensley, Dean Smith of Mabelvale; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; extended family; step-daughters, Linda Long of Conway, Shirley and husband Larry Ironside of Mabelvale, and Brenda Stroud of Bryant; 14 step grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in the Ico Community. Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 6-8 PM.

Pallbearers will be  Myron Smith, Mark Smith, Dean Smith, Drew Smith, Jarrod Washburn, Skylar Smith and Chris Johnson. Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Ironside.
