Norma Louise Lowe Winston, of Sheridan, Arkansas was born August 3, 1928 at Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of the late John Norman and Mary Faye Coats Lowe. She was a member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan, where she attended the Grace Sunday School class for over 50 years. She served in the United States Army's, Women's Army Corp. (WAC) from 1951-1953, was retired bookkeeper/secretary for Winston, Inc, was a member of the Sheridan Extension Homemaker's Club, and served alongside her husband in the Arkansas Chapter of the American Red Cross disaster aid team. In years past, she enjoyed square-dancing and in recent years, quilt-making. Her love for travel had taken her to 15 countries and she was proud to have marched in the Dwight Eisnhower Inaugural parade in 1953. When asked what her greatest accomplishment was, she replied "raising my three kids, who I love dearly". She went on to say, when asked what she would do differently if she had it to do over again, "I'd do everything the same". Norma was like a child herself at holidays, especially Christmas Eve, when she baked everyone's favorite pie for them, all from scratch. She was an extraordinary Christian lady, who considered her God-given role as wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, to be her greatest treasure.
