O.J. Jones of Sheridan, Arkansas was born March 17, 1926 at Bridgewell in Yell County, Arkansas, the son of the late Virgil Homer and R.L. Sexton Jones. He had formerly lived in Ft. Worth, Texas where he was a member, Deacon, and Sunday School Superintendent of Sun Valley Assembly of God Church and was retired from the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Mr. Jones died Saturday, September 29, 2007 at his home in Sheridan at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Pauline Sybert Jones who died in 2004.

Survivors include his Sons, David Jones of Sheridan and Larry Jones of Mansfield, Texas; daughters, Judy Overton of Glenrose, Texas, Darlene Hard and Carol Ketchum both of Ft. Worth, Texas; Brothers, Ed Jones of Ft. Worth, Texas and Jerry Jones of Mansfield, Texas; sisters, Roberta Powell of Ft. Worth, Texas, Vonia Gaylor of Hugo, Oklahoma, Betty Jo Qualls of Los Angeles, California and Stella Sybert of Ft. Worth, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, October 1, 2007 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan. Burial will be in Philadelphia Cemetery at Prattsville. Visitation: Sunday 4 until 6 PM at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be his sons and grand-sons.
