Obituary

Wilmar Paul Orr of Leola, Arkansas was born September 25, 1941 at Ivy, Arkansas (near Leola), the son of the late J.W. and Irma Stiles Orr. He served in the United States Army reserves as a young adult, and retired from Entergy. If it had to do with Leola, Arkansas, Paul had either helped organize it, or support it. He was proud ambassador for his little hometown. He served as Mayor for 14 years, as well as serving on the volunteer fire department. Paul was a faithful member at Leola Missionary Baptist Church. Over the years, he had served his Church in any way they needed him to, from Sunday School teacher, to treasurer, and Deacon. He put Christ first in his life and truly lived his faith. He was a "phone call away" type of friend to anyone who needed him, anytime. He always made time for hunting and fishing, and of course, was a die-hard Arkansas Razorback Football and Basketball fan. His greatest joy was making memories with his family, especially his grandkids.

Mr. Orr died Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at his home, at the age of 79. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Orr; sister, Joy Mullens; brother-in-law, David Helm; niece, Amy Orr; nephew, Brian Diemer.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara Caldwell Orr of Leola; daughters, Shannon Keller (Scott) of Gunter, Texas; Sharon Previtte of Poyen, Arkansas; grandchildren, Kaden Keller, Kylee Keller, Ashland Previtte; sister, Jo Helm of Leola. He is also survived by many, many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan, with Bro. Richard Sullivant officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, near Leola. Visitation is Friday, 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to his special nurse, Pam Gudino, and also to Arkansas Hospice nurses, Gail Pate, Marilyn Brown, and Melissa Murdock.

Memorials may be made to Leola Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 165, Leola, Arkansas 72084 or to Hopewell Cemetery Association.
