Obituary

Pauline Elizabeth Burford James of Sheridan, Arkansas was born November 18, 1929 in Fordyce, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Collie and Sybil Finley Burford. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Sheridan. She enjoyed camping and fishing.

Pauline loved life and lived it to the fullest, she was a proud wife and mother, loving her daughters with all her might. She was most proud of being a grandma, she made each grandchild feel special in her own way and they all adored her. She was a fun grandma, the one everyone wanted to spend time with. Her favorite holidays were Christmas, Easter, and Halloween, where she'd dress up in costumes scaring the little kids even when she didn't mean too. If you were lucky enough to go trick or treating with her, she'd put you in a costume too.

Pauline enjoyed working in her garden, she didn't believe in child labor laws so her girls and grandkids enjoyed gardening with her, and it was a huge garden. She'd work in that garden all morning and then get ready to go to town. Going to town meant putting on your best clothes, makeup, jewelry, and painted nails because you might just run into someone from church.

Her church was also her family, from handing out cookies at vacation bible school (where she'd save the homemade ones for her favorites) to overseeing the potlucks, she was there and always with a willing heart. She loved her church and couldn't wait until she was old enough to join the 55 plus class, even though she was well past 55.

Pauline had a servant's heart, serving others with love and kindness. She served her husband by helping him with his business, always preparing lunch for him and his workers. She served her daughters by sewing them anything they needed and she served her grandkids by cooking all their favorite dishes with love and spending as much time as she could with them. Most importantly, Pauline served her Lord with her heart, soul, and mind. She was a living example of a Proverbs 31 woman.

Ms. James passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2020 at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab Center at the age of 90.
