June 24, 1932 – February 25, 2023
Peggy Hope Winston, age 90, of Sheridan, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James A. "Jack" Winston, her son , James Timothy "Tim" Winston, her parents George Vernon Hope and Beulah Hope Weaver of Sheridan and her sister Marilyn Sue Haywood of Pine Bluff.
Survivors are her sons and their wives, Danny Jack and Christy Winston of Arkadelphia and Stephen R. and Belinda Winston of Sheridan, her grandchildren, Matthew Winston and wife Morgan of Hot Springs, Stacy Quinton and husband Reid of Hot Springs, Leann King and husband Maburn of Sheridan, and Jared Winston and wife Katy of Benton. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Payton Winston, Bryce and Bria Quinton, Winston King, Klaire, Kyndall and Rhett Winston, two sisters, Pat Lucas of Henderson, Nevada, and Rita Barnes of Sheridan, and three nieces and three nephews.
Peggy was a 1950 graduate of Sheridan High School, where she was active in basketball and was a drum major in the marching band. After attending Henderson State Teacher's College for a short time, she married her high school sweetheart, Jack Winston, and they moved to Rison in 1956. They lived, worked and raised their family there for sixty years, but returned to Sheridan in 2016.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at age 14, and was baptized by Bro. L.D. Foreman in Saline River at Jenkin's Ferry. She was a member of Rison Baptist Church.
She was a former member of Chico Trace Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and she enjoyed reading, writing, and researching her family history and genealogy. Peggy owned and operated the "Fashion Shop" in Rison for nine years, retiring in 1994.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan with Bro. Scott Grubb officiating. Visitation will also be Wednesday, from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service, also at the cemetery.
