Phyllis Ann Oglesby Stevens of Sheridan, Arkansas was born May 14, 1944 in San Diego, CA the daughter of the late Bernard and Grace Oglesby. She was reared and married in Greenville, MS. She was employed as a Dental Assistant (12 years), Legal Secretary & Court Reporter (20 years), and Church Secretary (14 years) and she was a pianist and organist at Calvary Baptist Church and Emmanuel Baptist Church in Greenville, MS.

Mrs. Stevens died at her home on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at the age of 82.

She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Sheridan, AR. She was married on December 5, 1965, to William Emmett Stevens, Jr. Her children are Niki Brenton (spouse James) - Sardis Community, Trey Stevens (spouse Mandie) - Sheridan; grandchildren: Kenzi Brenton, Neal Brenton (spouse Hope), Emili Standridge (spouse Nick), Travis Brenton, Reid Stevens, Ross Stevens, Ainsley Stevens; great grandchildren  Jackson Brenton, Radley Brenton: siblings: Melvin Oglesby (spouse Janna) - Corinth, MS Linda McKinney and Sharon Hampton (spouse Buddy) of Louisiana; honorary parent and grandparent to David Johnson and family: beloved cousin and aunt to her nieces and nephews. 

Phyllis had the extraordinary gift of making everyone feel like part of her family. Her home was always open and her heart was always generous. She was called “Mimi” by many and was a friend and grandmother to anyone who needed her. She impacted the lives of many people with her kindness and openness. We are all blessed to have known her. Her legacy of compassion and hospitality will live on in us as we continue to follow her example of loving God and loving others.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Friday, May 22. 2026 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Bro. David Johnson officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 until service time. Burial will be private.
