Porter Pruitt

1939-2020

Porter "Monster" Pruitt of Nashville, TN was born July 14,1939 in Grapevine, AR. He was a life-long resident and mechanic of Sheridan, AR before a recent move to Nashville. He was the son of the late Porter Pruitt, Sr, and Ola Virginia Pack Pruitt. He was awarded the name "Monster" by the children of Mrs. Betty's Daycare because of his stature and playful demeanor. Through the years, his moniker has remained because of the number of children, parents, and grandparents who adored him.

Porter was a well sought-after mechanic from his youth and throughout his forty-year career with International Paper Company. He co-managed Southland Village Mobile Home Subdivision and RV park for 10 years until his health declined. Porter was a humble man and was much admired for his kindness and charm toward everyone he met. He loved his family dearly and was dedicated to each one of them. He loved old cars and talking about them with his buddies.

Porter died December 9,2020, at home with his family after a short hospital stay in Nashville at the age of 81, just two days short of 51 years of marriage. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi House of Sheridan, and two brothers, Bobby Pruitt of El Dorado, AR and Sammy Pruitt, of Sheridan. He is survived by his wife, Betty Carey Pruitt of the home, a son Gregory Pruitt Cornett of La Marque, TX, two daughters, Justi Pruitt (John) Heath, of Sheridan, Jacie Pruitt (Chelsey) Martin of Nashville, TN, five grandchildren Derrick Cornett of La Marque, Ashley King of Pocatello, ID, Chandler Heath of Little Rock, AR, Alden (Calli) Heath of Mablevale, AR, Madison Martin of Nashville, two great grandchildren Knox and Myles Heath, and a sister Joann Johnson of Hensley, AR. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and loving friends.
