Paul Raymond "Shorty" Doherty of Sheridan, Arkansas was born January 27, 1928 at Bearden, the son of the late Dee and Ella Doherty. He was a member of Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was retired from the floor mill.

Mr. Doherty died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff at the age of 83. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Paul Dean Doherty; two brothers, Melvin and J.D. Doherty; two sisters, Sissie Watson and Emma Jean Livingston.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dora Sue Robinson Doherty of Sheridan; son, James Doherty and wife Linda of Prattsville; daughters, Carolyn Wortham and husband Don of Searcy and Pauline and husband Tony Ausbrooks of Sheridan; three grandchildren, Angie Holiman and husband Jason, Wendy Egerdahl and husband Dean and Leslie Lucas and husband Chris; ten great grandchildren and several step grandchildren; brother, Ray Doherty of Kingsland.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 10, 2011 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Kenneth Click officiating. Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery, but the family has requested that the service be concluded at the chapel due to inclement weather. Visitation will be Monday evening, from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
