Obituary

Raymond Paul "Ray" Kalanick of Sheridan, Arkansas was born October 13, 1935 at Big Sandy, Montana, the son of the late Paul and Anna Labuda Kalanick. He was a Catholic, and had proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Ray was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and rooting for the Razorbacks. He was a hard worker, having worked in several trades during the years, but his favorite was working for the Sheridan School District. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family.

Mr. Kalanick died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, at the age of 78. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death a grandson, Chad Stricklin.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mildred Gilbert Kalanick; sons, Ricky Stricklin, and Jay and wife Patressia Stricklin, all of Sheridan; daughter, Marilyn and husband Joe Ellis of Little Rock; grandchildren, Joseph (Tiffany) Ellis, Mandy (Brandon) Mercer, Jessica (Brandon) Bolls, Daniel (Drew) Thomas, Brittany (Thomas) Harrington, Jayanna Wiggins (Bobby), Cassie Stricklin, Eric Stricklin, Haley Ellis; great grandchildren, Jaxon, Lauren, Madison, Braxton, Leah, C.J., Ian, Briton, Erin, Addison.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 25, 2014 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan. Burial will follow at 1:30 P.M. at Ida Mission Cemetery in Little Rock. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday.
