Raymond J. Koon of Sheridan, Arkansas was born September 3, 1926 in Sheridan, the son of the late Henry Hillard and Sophronia Rebecca Puckett Koon. He was a member of Hope Pentecostal Church but attended First Landmark Baptist Church. He had formerly served in the United States Army in Germany. Raymond retired as Captain in the Little Rock Fire Department after 38 years of service and was owner of Raymond Koon Plumbing in Sheridan. He was a kind, gentle man whose heart was as big as his smile.

Mr. Koon died Sunday, March 21, 2010 at his home at the age of 83. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Deere Koon; Sisters, Edna Crutchfield, JoElma Swindal, Inez Harrington, Alice Donaldson, Eula Ross, Jewell Koon, Ruth Stubbs and Faye Williams; Brother, Boyce Koon.

Son, Keith and wife Janna Koon of Sheridan;
Daughters, Pati and husband Jeff Miller of Sheridan;
Sandi and husband Rue Garrett of Conway;
Step-son: Gary and wife Zoe Hines of Sheridan;
Grandchildren, Todd Miller, Scott Hines, Kati Jones, Chance Garrett and
Maggie Garrett;
Great grandchild, Madison Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services with Firefighter Honors will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Walt Hollis and Bro. Shawn Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Fallen Firefighters Fund, P.O.
