Raymond Lee Mooney of Sheridan, Arkansas, was born September 29, 1927 in Prattsville, Arkansas. He served in the Merchant Marines and the Air Force.  He completed a long career in the paper industry as Pulp Mill Manager of the mill at Lufkin, Texas.  He was a member of the First UMCC Church in Sheridan, Arkansas.

Mr. Mooney died December 5, 2021 at The Green House Cottages of Southern Hills in Rison, Arkansas at the age of 94.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Rody H. Mooney and Ava Reynolds Mooney, and his wife of 54 years, Dorothy S. Mooney.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Joan C. Mooney of Sheridan, his daughter Carol Ann Meadors and husband Rick, of Newnan, Georgia, grandchildren, Matt Meadors of Atlanta, Georgia, Beth Upton and husband Zack of Flowery Branch, Georgia, and great grandsons, Barrett and Braxton Upton.

He is also survived by his stepdaughter Linnie Grice and her husband Randy of Kingsland, Arkansas, stepson Paul Smith and his wife Susan of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and a host of step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 9, at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville, Arkansas.  In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to the charity of your choice, or Philadelphia Cemetery Association.
