Reba Jean McCowan Emberton of Sheridan, Arkansas was born March 4, 1930 at Athens, Alabama.  She was a longtime member of Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church, and in recent years attended Little Creek Missionary Baptist Church with her family. She was the true definition of what a Christian wife, mother, and grandmother should be.  She had a servant's heart and made so many meals for others and helped in any other way they needed, never seeking credit or praise, but giving it all to her Jesus.

Mrs. Emberton died Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehabilitation at the age of 93.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Cal" Emberton, Sr.; brothers, Lester McCowan, Marvin McCowan and Sonny McCowan; sisters, Lacy Ursery, Gladys Harris, Lorene Hamley, Essie Adams, Ruth Adams, and Myrtis Emberton; son-in-law, Larry Grimes.

Survivors include her Son, Bill Emberton and wife Barbara of Springfield, Missouri; Daughters, Sharon Grimes of Sheridan, Charlotte and husband Rethel King of Harrison; sister, Janie Johnson and husband Franklin of Alabama;  10 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren; her #2 Son, Donald Howard; her best friend for 60 years, Becky Mathis Reed. She is also survived by a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Kenneth Click, Bro. Jason Howard, Bro. Jim Dave Reed, and Bro. Brent Williams officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation is Monday, 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
