Obituary

Rhea Fae Truxell Kerkera of Sheridan, Arkansas,  was born February 24, 1932 in Edinburg, IL, the daughter of the late Archibald Truxell and Mary Williams Truxell. Known to friends as Fae, she was a member of Sheridan First United Methodist Church. While she retired from the Boy Scouts of America, Westark Area Council as a paraprofessional serving handicapped scouts, she was also a volunteer for nearly five decades, both in the Northwest Suburban Council of Illinois and the Westark Area Council. As such, he earned distinguished awards such as the Silver Beaver (for distinguished volunteer service), Order of the Arrow (adult), and served in a Woodbadge Lodge. She also served on staff and as a further volunteer at the Rogers Boy Scout Reservation in Booneville and Camp Orr Adventure Base in Jasper, as well as Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico.

Ms. Kerkera died on Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab Center at the age of 89. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gregory Brent Kerkera.

Survivors: son, Don Derek Kerkera of McHenry, IL; daughter, Lisa Hightower of Sheridan and, Daryl of Sheridan and a host of friends.
