Robert Carlton Elkins of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, lovingly known as "Bud"by his family, was born July 4, 1935 in Sheridan, Arkansas the son of the late John Earl and Gwinne Lena Shephard Elkins.
Mr. Elkins died peacefully at his home on February 6, 2007 at the age of 71. His passing touches the hearts of many people, not only his family but a host of friends at the place that gave him much pride and purpose, The Blake Street Flea Market, Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Mr. Elkins helped operate a booth at the Market for many years, always sharp minded he could tell you where any item was, how much it cost, where he got it and along the way charmed you with his shy, gentle manner. Never a need for a computer or a spreadsheet, says his Dear friend, Gordon Reese, Robert "Had it all in his head".
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Sams Elkins and his second wife, Laura Ann Elkins.
Survivors: Sons, Dewayne Jacks and Gary Jacks both of Jonesboro; Jimmy Jacks of Tacoma, Washington;
Daughter, Debbie Johnson of North Little Rock;
Sisters, Earlene Shoptaw of Sheridan and Marcelee Cooper of Jacksonville;
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 9, 2007 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home chapel in Sheridan with Michael Walton officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time.
Per the family's wishes there will only be a private gathering after the service. Those who knew Carlton well will honor him by keeping his memory in their hearts forever, in lieu of flowers.
