Robert Danial McCurry, a longtime member of the Rison community, departed this world on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at his home in Poyen. He was born, the second oldest of six children to Gilham and Mildred Kendall McCurry, on July 6, 1942 in Le Panto, Arkansas.

He was a simple man of few wants and needs that dedicated his life and career to his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and generally being with friends and family. He was a longtime member of Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church in Rison and upon leaving that community he was a member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Helen McCurry, his parents, a brother Charles, and a sister Roxie.

A beloved husband, father, and "Paw", he leaves behind his wife Linda (Nance) McCurry of Poyen; sons, Bob and wife Tina(Gilbert) McCurry of Sheridan and Scott McCurry of Conway; daughter, Melissa McCurry of Sheridan; step-daughter, Tammy Batchelor and husband Bart; step-son, Doy Nance and wife Jacqueline; 7 grandchildren, Riley and Hunter McCurry, Cassie, Coen and Isaac Nance, Misty and husband Nathan Jarrett, Rebel Wetherington, Blade Batchelor, Jordan and wife Jena Batchelor; great grandchild, Brilyn Huck Batchelor; 1 brother, 2 sisters and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 22, 2015 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Philadelphia Cemetery at Prattsville.

The family would like to thank the Saline Memorial Hospice, especially nurse Micky Hull and patient care tech Lisa Gagne for their care, compassion, and assistance during this time of transition.
