Rommie Gene Brewer, born in Sheridan, AR, lost his battle with cancer October
21, 2011 at 64 years of age. He was a retired Lt. Colonel in the Air Force, and
resided in San Antonio, TX. He died Friday morning at the Odyssey Hospice in San
Antonio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Johnnie Brewer of Sheridan.
He is survived by brother David and his wife Jo Brewer of Little Rock, sister
Nancy and her husband Jerry McCool of Sheridan, three nieces, Michelle Robertson
and Sandra Brewer of Little Rock and Wendy Lewis of Washington D. C., two great
nephews and a great niece.
Rommie served in the USAF for more than 20 years with more than 5 years overseas
in Germany. His primary specialty during his service was as Navigator for
multiple aircraft including the B52 bomber and the C130 as well as an Electronic
Warfare Officer. He worked for the last 16 years at AT&T Voicemail Services in
San Antonio as a Senior Specialist Network Design Engineer. He is described by
coworkers as someone with a great ability to make others laugh, who worked long
days and could always be found poking around the network on weekends, on
vacation, and even holidays.
Visititation services will be held on Wednesday, October 26, from 1:00 - 2:00
P.M. at Memorial Gardens with a graveside service immediately following at 2:30
P.M. at New Hope Cemetery.
