Russell B. Guirl was born December 12, 1930 in Rochelle, Illinois, and went to be with His Jesus on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from his home in Sheridan, Arkansas. Russell was a Korean War Veteran, taught fine art at LSU and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Arkansas, and retired from the Arkansas Department of Correction. He developed the Christian Group Ministry at Tucker prison.

Russell was the husband of Sue McGill Guirl for 34 years. He was the father to Bill Guirl, Rhonda Klindinst, Steven Guirl, Jim McGill, Helen Griffith, and Martha Phillips. He was a grandfather to 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Russell was a member of Mensa international, Grant County Arkansas Library Board, member and Deacon of Family Church, White Hall, Arkansas, and a Home Group pastor at Crown Point Assisted Living, in Sheridan, Arkansas.

Funeral arrangements are Monday, February 22, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is also Monday, from 9:00 A.M. until service time.  Interment will take place at the Arkansas Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock, Arkansas, on Tuesday , February 23 at 10:00 A. M.
