Russell Edgar Jackson of Gilmer, Texas, formerly of Sheridan, was born September 11, 1946 at Sheridan, the son of the late Duffie and Celia Allen Jackson. He was a member of Holly Lake Church of Christ and was a 1964 graduate of Sheridan High School. He retired as a bus driver for Greyhound bus lines. Russell enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors, especially yard work and burning leaves.
Mr. Jackson died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Upshur Nursing Home in Gilmer, at the age of 65. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Jackson and a sister, Carolyn Jackson Woods.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda White Jackson of Gilmer, Texas; daughter, Tracey and husband William Standridge of Vilonia; step-son, Randy Long of Tyler, Texas; step-daughter, Leigh Anne and husband Jay Jacobs of Tyler, Texas; brothers, Louis "Rabbit" Jackson and Bennie Jackson, both of Sheridan and Clyde Jackson of Bryant; sister, Mary Lou Marrow of Little Rock; grandchildren, William Earl Standridge, Miesha Keefe, Dillon Jacobs, Hailey Jacobs; great grandchildren, Autumn Standridge, Dixie Standridge, Alyssa Barnard.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 9, 2012 at Jackson Cemetery, near Sheridan, with Bro. Michael Walton officiating. Visitation will also be Monday at the cemetery, from 1:30 P.M. until service time.
