Obituary

Sammy Pruitt of Sheridan, Arkansas was born March 1, 1946 the son of the late Porter and Ola Pack Pruitt. He was retired Sheriff of Grant County and prior to that he served in various agencies during his law enforcement career. Sammy was a member of North Main Baptist Church in Sheridan, was vice president of Mid-South Car Club and enjoyed auto racing. His greatest love in life was being a devoted husband, father, and "Papaw".

Mr. Pruitt died Monday, October 22, 2007 at Hot Spring County Medical Center at Malvern at the age of 61.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Kyle Ruth Barnes Pruitt of Sheridan; daughters, Shana Cotton and Becky Greene and husband, John "Gator" , both of Sheridan; Brother, Porter Pruitt, Jr. of Sheridan; Sister, Joann Johnson of East End; Brother-in-law, R.C. House of Sheridan; Mother-in-law, Betty Barnes of Sheridan; Grandchildren, Morgan, Mikayla, and Cole Cotton; Madison and Emerson Greene.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Jon Cox and Bro. Shawn Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery. Visitation: Tuesday, 5-8 P.M. Pallbearers: Brett Turner, Robbie Bird, Bob Adams, Roger House, Kenny Johnson, Jody Barnes, Lenny Barnes and Nathan Cook. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Mid-South Car Club and the Grant County Deputies that served under Sheriff Pruitt and Robert and Shannon Shepherd.
