Obituary

Shelton B. Miller of Leola, Arkansas was born February 24, 1936 at Bogalusa, Louisiana, the son of the late Otis and Mildred Lee Leslie Miller. He was a retired Baptist minister having pastored at Leola Baptist from 1987 to 1992 and numerous other area churches and had served in the United States Navy. Bro. Miller was currently a member and deacon of Leola Missionary Baptist Church. He had a special gift for woodworking and was very community oriented, helping anyone, anytime.

Bro. Miller died Thursday, February 28, 2008 at U.A.M.S. Medical Center following a sudden illness at the age of 72. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Delores Wheat Miller who died in 1997; a brother, Dobie Miller; and a sister, Marie Lacy.

Survivors include his wife, Katheryn Bird Lamb Miller of Leola; Daughter, Kathy and husband Jonathan Bibb of Sheridan and step-daughter, Kelly Lamb of Leola; Son, Terry Miller of Malvern, Step-sons, Scottie and wife Melissa Lamb of Prattsville, Casey and wife Shanna Lamb of Fordyce; 7 grandchildren, Crystal and husband Billy Bethea, Kayelyn Bibb, Sydney Reeves, Katelyn Graves, Daniel Lamb, Savannah Lamb, and Cole Williams; 1 great grandchild, Presley Kayt Bethea; brothers, Elvin, Glen, and Lofton Miller all of Bogalusa, Louisiana, James Miller of Vanadour, Louisiana, Clyde Miller of Globe, Arizona, William Earl Miller of Covington, Louisiana and Herbert Culbreath of Bush, Louisiana; sister, Inez Mullins of New Iberia, Louisiana.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, March 2, 2008 at Leola Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery also in Leola. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan. Pallbearers: Billy Bethea, Casey Lamb, Scottie Lamb, Steven Bibb, Luther Carter, George Stiles, Ben Smith and Paul Orr. Honorary pallbearers are members of Leola Volunteer Fire Department and Ron Evans. Memorials may be made to Leola Missionary Baptist Church Missions Project, P.O. Box 52, Leola, Arkansas 72084.
