Sherry Lee Wheeler, age 70, passed from this life on 6/20/2025 after bravely battling a terminal illness.

Sherry was born on 12/24/1954 in Lindsay, CA to Albert & Oneta Sweeden, where she was raised and lived until 1987. That's when she and her family moved to Arkansas.

Sherry had a life long dream of being a nurse. Despite many other careers in her life, that dream was realized in 1996. Early in her nursing career, she worked at several places before she ultimately found her home at JRMC in Pine Bluff, where she spent 20 years. She loved her work and her work family. She was known as "Mammie" or "Head Hen" and helped raise more young nurses than can be counted.

After retiring in 2019, Sherry moved to her lake house on Lake Quachita. The Lake was her heaven on earth and where she was happiest. During her retirement she spent her time loving her life at the lake, her family, and friends. For Sherry, family was everything. She showed that everyday with her consistent love, encouragement, understanding and more love. She will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved her.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents Albert & Oneta Sweeden, husband John Wheeler, brother Richard Sweeden, son Nick Wheeler, grandchildren Lyndsy and Alex.
Sherry is survived by her children Jim Wheeler (Ranee), Christy Salazar (Jason), John Wheeler, Shalisa Delk, and Eli Delk (Ashley Nicole) and Matt Johnson (Amanda); She is also survived by grandchildren Katy, Taylor (Nick), AJ (McCallie), Layla (Chris), Jaxson, Evander, Aijah, Jakobi, John, Mattie, Tyler, Katie, Ali, Kanie and Jamie; Great Grandchildren Mason, Elijah, Walker and Greyson.

Celebration of life service will be held on 6/26/25 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan, AR.
