Shirley Anzina Tinney Phillips of Sheridan, AR, formerly of Granville, WV, Monongalia County, died July 30th, 2025 peacefully at home.
Shirley was born August 9th, 1935 in Morgantown WV, the daughter of Alva A. and Clara B. Long-Tinney.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, James Dent Phillips, in 2007. She leaves behind her beloved children Diana D. (John) Holliday, of Durbin, WV, Kevin D. Phillips, of Sheridan, AR, Sheila R. Phillips of Sheridan, AR, Lee R. (Jamie) Phillips of Bryant, AR, her grandchildren Meghan D. Holliday, Raleigh NC, J. Cade (Lauren) Holliday, Gainesville, FL, J. Chase Holliday, J. Cody (Jessica) Holliday, Dunmore, WV; Madison A. (Kaleb) Gray, Conway, AR, Jack J. Phillips, Little Rock, AR, W. Layne Baker, Bryant, AR; great grandchildren. J. Hayes and Henry Preston (Hank) Holliday, Gainesville, FL, Oliver D. and Savannah L Gray, Conway, AR.
Shirley was also preceded in death by her siblings, Ruby Tinney Douglas (Hal), Ward P. Tinney (Joanne), Dale C. Tinney (Geneva), Harlan A. Tinney (Mary Lee) Wade S. Tinney, (Catherine), Junior Tinney, and Wava Jean Tinney McCleland. Additional survivors include her in laws, Donna S and James C Kenyon, Apollo Beach, FL, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Shirley was a proud graduate of Morgantown Hight School Class of 1953 Morgantown, WV. She worked at Olin Mathison, Morgantown, WV, West Virginia University Morgantown, WV, the Town of Granville, Granville, WV. Regions Bank of Sheridan, formerly Grant Co Saving and Loan Bank, AR. She retired from Regions Bank, Sheridan, AR.
Shirley was a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Morgantown Chapter # 35, Morgantown WV, and member of the O.E'. S. Sheridan AR, chapter #212 in 2013, Shirley as presented with her fifty-year pin at the Sheridan Chapter. She was a charter member of the Pines Country Club, Morgantown, WV, and a member at the Sheridan Golf Club Sheridan AR, participating in the Lady Golfers and Senior Golf leagues. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Sheridan, AR, for over forty years. She was past president of the U. M. W's afternoon circle Sunday school and friendship class and a participant of the Jack Williams Class.
She enjoyed the hobbies of music, dancing, golfing, sports, quilting, texting with family and friends and volunteering.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 2, 2025 at First United Methodist Church in Sheridan with Rev. Todd Paul Taulbee officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation is Friday, 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
