Ted Eugene Dent, Sr. Of Redfield, Arkansas was born June 19, 1932 at Jonesboro the son of the late Jack and Mary Lena Hogan Dent. Mr. Dent died Saturday, January 7, 2006 at his home in Redfield, at the age of 73.
He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1950. In 1952 he married Bettie Sue Livingston of whom five children were born. Ted and Joy Gladden Wilson were united in marriage on December 13, 2003. He was a member of River Road Baptist Church in Redfield.
Mr. Dent retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in 1969 in San Diego. During his naval career he was a member of the Security Team in South Carolina during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was also a member of the Debriefing Team during the U.S.S. Pueblo Crisis. He was a Veteran of the Korean and Viet Nam wars.
After retirement he lived in Arvada, Colorado and Boulder, Colorado where he retired from business. He managed the sporting goods department for Woolco in Boulder for many years.
More than anything, he loved his family and loved to read his Bible. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, sports and good conversation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack (J.D.), Ralph and Jim and two sisters Doris Orr and Lois.
He is survived by his wife Joy of the home and his children and their spouses;
Daughters, Cynthia Brooks-Fetty and Steve Fetty of Leoti, Kansas;
Kathryn and Ted Willis; Rebecca and Robert McCurdy of Scott City, Kansas;
Sons, Ted, Jr. And Jacqueline Dent of Broomfield, Colorado;
David Dent of Westminster, Colorado;
Brothers, Lee and Jerry Dent of Jonesboro; Edward Dent of Odessa, Missouri
Two Step-children, Jason D. Wilson of Carrolton, Texas and Julia Harger of Conway, Arkansas
12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren
Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Redfield Missionary Baptist Church with his pastor Bro. Bill Flemming officiating. Visitation: Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the funeral home. Internment at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro at a later date. Donations may be made to American Heart Association, P.O.
