Obituary

Velva Athylene Huggins Camp of Prattsville, Arkansas was born June 10, 1921 at Perry County, Arkansas, the daughter of the late James Mason and Nancy Bell Goodnight Huggins. She was a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville and was one of the co-founders of Forest Tower Baptist Church. Mrs. Camp enjoyed fishing and was a homemaker. Due to her Cherokee Indian heritage, she also enjoyed Indian crafts.

Mrs. Camp died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at her home in Prattsville, surrounded by her family, at the age of 90. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Gary Michael Camp and James Allen Camp; grandson, Darrell Smith and great grandson, Mark Camp; sisters, Arla McGhee and Elzady Sharpe.

Survivors include her husband of 72 years, W.O. "Oddie" Camp, Sr. of Prattsville; son, Bill (Ann) Camp of Prattsville; daughters, Betty (Howard) Lybrand of Sheridan, Elaine Bennings of Prattsville, Linda Camp of Prattsville; brother, Cleo Huggins of California; 19 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville with Bro. Kim Hammer officiating. Burial will be in Philadelphia Cemetery at Prattsville. Visitation: 5:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan. Pallbearers will be her 10 grandsons: Tim Camp, Johnny Camp, Rick Camp, Allen Camp, Mike Smith, Kelley Smith, Bobby Bennings, Chris Bennings, Brandon Wright, Nathan Wright. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Hospital Cancer Research or the American Cancer Society.
