Vergia Louise Williams Burgess Arnold of Sheridan, Arkansas, the daughter of John T. "Jack" and Bertha (Pruett) Williams was born November 27, 1919 in Carlisle, Arkansas and died May 4, 2010 at the Sheridan Rehab and Nursing Facility in Sheridan, Arkansas.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, her first husband John "Chester" Burgess, her second husband of 34 years, Abner Arnold and 3 brothers; Winford, A.L., and Richard Williams.
Survivors are her son and daughter -in-law Jimmy C. and Carol Burgess, grandchildren; Leanna (Steve) Veazey, Larry Burgess, and Laura (Sam)Kelley all of Sheridan. Great grandchildren; Tasha (Jeremy) Pascarella of Texarkana, Ark., Steven (Felecia) Veazey of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, Timothy Burgess of Sheridan, Ryan Burgess of Knoxville, Tennessee, Alliye Burgess of Newark, New Jersey, Madison and Dalton Harp of Sheridan, Amy (Matt) Bell, and Audrey Kelley of North Little Rock, Ark., great-great grandchildren; Gabriel Brown, Savannah and Taylor Pascarella all of Texarkana, Ark and Kaden Veazey of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, brothers; Elmer Williams and Donald Williams of Sheridan, 7 nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Granny, as she was known to her family, made the best homemade rolls and chocolate pies known to mankind. She loved fishing, going to church, good gospel singing and working in her yard, but most of all her family.
Funeral services are Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan, Arkansas with graveside services following at Lost Creek Cemetery, Sheridan. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers for the services are Chris Carter, Robert Porterfield, Jerry Cotton, Wayne Davis, Rick Earnhart, and John Earnhart.
