Verla Ruth Austin Lain of Sheridan, Arkansas was born February 18, 1935 at Chicot County, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Manso Wilfred And Charlene Gladden Austin. She was a homemaker, and  attended Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan.   She enjoyed fishing, reading, and taking care of her family.

Mrs. Lain died Friday, March 8, 2019, at Sheridan Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 84. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Lain; son, David Lain; and a brother, Benny Austin.

Survivors include her sons, Howard Lain (Vickie) of Sheridan, Mike Lain (Brenda) of Sheridan; brothers, Charles Austin of Virginia, Donald Austin of Nevada; sisters, Betty Funderburg of Monticello, Shirley Handley of Mississippi, Martha Jo Shields of Mississippi, Gloria Pennington of Wilmar, Arkansas; grandchildren, Jennifer Lain, Scott Lain, Brian Lain, Gary Lain, Mellissa Fuell; great grandchildren, Dakota Lain, Tristan Tilman, Brandon Tilman, Trevor Lain, Cody Lain, Scarlett Lain, Saylor Lain, Scott Fuell, Samantha Fuell; 1 great great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan, with Bro. Jerald Fuell officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery near Rison, Arkansas. Visitation is Monday, 6:00-8:00 P.M.
