Verna Mae Taylor Thomason of Sheridan, Arkansas was born May 7, 1937 at Malvern, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Rev. William Benjamin Taylor and Bertha Mae Cunningham Taylor. She was, without a doubt, the proudest member of a church, that has ever lived. She cherished serving her Lord, and worshiping with her Church family at Lost Creek Missionary Baptist church in Sheridan. Her father being a missionary, Verna Mae was already playing the piano for church services at the age of 8. She used her spiritual gift of music for the rest of her life. She was the organist, and occasional pianist, at her church for 52 years. During her years at Lost Creek, she was involved in practically every ministry of the Church in some way, including being a Sunday School Teacher, youth leader, librarian, Shoebox ministry coordinator and certainly a Prayer Warrior. Her love for her Lord was evident by her servant's heart and she was not bashful when it came to telling others about her Jesus. Over the years, she and her husband Dean, owned and operated the Sears store in Sheridan, she was a hospice volunteer, had worked for the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, and for the Grant County Judge. In recent years she ran a successful internet business. Even with all of those activities, Verna Mae made loving her family and taking care of them, her primary focus. The words of the song describe her well, "Thank You for Giving To the Lord, I am a life that was changed". She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and though the separation is difficult, it's only temporary. There's a glad reunion day coming soon!
