Vernon Cecil "Doc" Strom, of Sheridan, Arkansas was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 7, 1933, the son of the late Ervin Cecil and Mattie Green Strom. He died on Sunday, January 29, 2006 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas at the age of 72 years.

Mr. Strom was a self-employed home builder and a member of Center Grove United Methodist Church near Sheridan, and was a volunteer firefighter for the Center Grove Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gus Strom; 2 sisters, Juanita Beard and Jackie Climber; and a grandson, Dustin Strom.

Survivors are his wife, Rosie Jones Strom of the home

5 sons: Cecil; Donald Gene; Michael; Robert and Havis Strom, all of Sheridan

3 daughters: Deborah Wilkerson; Sharon Hasley and Georgia McCool, all of Sheridan

Sister: Vera Miles Myer, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

25 Grandchildren; Dunner Funderburg, Jennifer Lisenby, Lanee Thomas, Darren Funderburg, Chris Strom, Daniel Brantley, David Brantley, Barbie Wilson, Jason Strom, Bryan Strom, Kacey Strom, Britnie Strom, Lacey Strom, Haley Strom, Cody Strom, Madison Strom, Colby Strom, Garrett Strom, Dennis McCool, Luke McCool, Jade McCool, Bobby Hasley, Shannon Hasley, Danny Joe Hasley and Aaron Hasley.

Stephanie Banks, Jessie Beard, Shelby Beard, Tyler Thomas, Julie Thomas, Devin Funderburg, Brendon Funderburg, Nayda Funderburg, Hunter Strom, Hayden Strom, Destiny Brantley, Carter Wilson, Hunter Smith, Brittney Smith, Brigit Smith, Hope Hasley and Starr Redding.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan, with Bro. Scotty Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Center Grove Cemetery near Sheridan. Visitation will be Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
