Obituary

Virgil Wayne Gwinn, age 77, of Sheridan, Arkansas passed away on November 25, 2025, at John L. McClellan Veteran's Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born on February 8, 1948, in Anderson, Indiana to the late Hershall Wayne Gwinn and Lillie Mae Harrison Gwinn.

Virgil was preceded in death by his sister Carol Gwinn, brother Larry Gwinn, and nephew Larry "Scooter" Gwinn.

Virgil served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War on the U.S.S. King in the Gulf of Tonkin off the coast of Danang. He also served in the Arkansas National Guard.

He was a heavy equipment mechanic and for majority of his career was employed at White Bluff Power Plant.

Virgil was an active member and deacon of Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church where he enjoyed being involved and serving on numerous building projects, participating in the Easter dramas, and cooking gravy for the men's breakfast events.

He was a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge for 39 years serving in the offices of Master and Treasurer. He was also an active member of the American Legion Post 30.

Virgil enjoyed working on many projects for his family and friends, always eager to lend a helping hand. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren which he loved dearly.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Beverly Jane Damron Gwinn, daughter Kelly Hall and husband Jeffery Hall (Roland, AR), son Michael Gwinn and wife Rachel Gwinn (Sheridan, AR), sister Linda Gatling and husband Randy Gatling. Grandchildren Gwinn Hall, Rece Hall, Eavan Gwinn, Austin Gwinn and Cher Ann.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 29, 2025 at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation is prior to the service, from 9:00 A.M. until service time.
